James “Jim” Stepišnik 

James “Jim” Gerard Stepišnik, age 69, passed away on March 30, 2024 surrounded by family. Born June 11, 1954 in Denver, he was the oldest son of Mary Katherine and James Mathew Stepisnik. He grew up in Leadville, Colorado and graduated from Lake County High School in 1972 before joining the Army and moving to Germany. 

 Jim had a passion for life, a gift for storytelling, and a talent for leadership. He was quick-witted, with a great sense of humor.

 He served his community as a Colorado State Trooper for 9 years and had a short stint with the Denver Police Department. He was meticulous in his work details involving accident investigations.

 Jim loved camping and campfires, heavy machinery, hunting, hosting bbq’s, restoring old muscle cars, and spending time with his family, and close friends. 

 Jim was a devoted member of the Eagles Aerie, Elks Lodge, and Moose Lodge. He worked hard throughout his retirement to fundraise and organize events so that the Eagles could help others in the community. In November 2023, he was awarded volunteer of the year by the Eagles. 

 The last part of his working career was spent in various construction positions. In 2017, he retired as the vice president of a drilling and blasting company. 

 Jim is survived by his four children, Jimmy Stepisnik (Jennifer), Tammy Stepisnik (Donny Licatalosi), Neah Stepisnik, and Shaun Stepisnik. His grandchildren Harper Stepisnik, Mia and Dominic Licatalosi, and Nikolai Stepisnik-Taylor. His siblings, Dave Stepisnik and Melanie Miesner (Roger). 

 A celebration of life will be held Monday, April 1st at 6:00pm at The Eagles Aerie at 1674 US-50 in Grand Junction. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Eagles organization above. An additional celebration of life will be held this summer in Leadville, Colorado, date TBD.
