Jo Laughlin

Jo Marie Garrison Laughlin, age 77, died at home on August 30, 2021.  She spent her last day canning peach butter, and planning the next batch of salsa.

Born in 1944 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jo loved the Western United States and moved back to the region from Texas in 1993.  Her last decades in Grand Junction were joyful ones, with time spent with family both near and far.  Her circle of friends included folks she met through P.E.O. (Chapter AQ), First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), her bowling team, and her neighbors.  Jo was an excellent cook, and also enjoyed reading, sewing, fiber arts, (all crafts really), and travel.

In addition to keeping her family cared for and organized, Jo worked for a number of years in food service for the Garland Independent School District in Texas.  She volunteered with P.E.O. and for her church family in that community as well.

Jo is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Terry, daughters Carrie Jo (Jay) and Catherine (Keith), and three grandchildren, Elijah, Isaac and Alice Mae.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, when it is safer for us to gather together to laugh, cry, and celebrate her life.  If you would like to make a memorial contribution in her name, please consider the P.E.O.
