Jo Meinen

November 28, 1929 — August 7, 2016

Jo Anne Meinen, age 86, joined the angels on August 7, 2016.  She was born November 29, 1929, in Hebron, Nebraska, the daughter of Vern and Bernice Wagor.

She graduated from Hebron High School, and married her junior high sweetheart, Donald(Bud), on July 17, 1948.  They just celebrated their 68 wedding anniversary.

JoAnne worked as an Administrative Assistant for the health care, educational, and real estate industries, she was a mother, a grandmother, a craftsman, and a volunteer all of her life.

She enjoyed memberships in the Red Hat Society, Out to Lunch Bunch, Rebekah Lodge, and worked hard to establish the C.A.T.C.H. Progam at St. Mary’s Hospital, she also enjoyed giving Ma Jong lessons at Barnes and Noble.  Her passions were collecting clocks, playing games of all kinds, knitting, cross stitch, making clay figurines, ceramics, and bingo aka bunco.

Mom was very proud of her family, was always looking out for others, and always wanted to help.  She was a born caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Donald Meinen, 11/2014, her sister, Vernelle Bernstein, and two grandchildren Heather Melissa Jay, 09/2008, and Jennifer Sue Meinen, 10/1971.

Jo Anne is survived by her husband, Donald Eugene Meinen of Grand Junction.  Her children, Timothy J. Meinen (Mary), Rangley, Sue A. Coquoz (Bob), Meeker, and Nancy L. Jay (Craig) Parachute, CO.  She has 8 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great-grand child.

A memorial service will be August 16, 2016, 3:30 p.m., at Hopewest Hospice, 3090 N. 12th Street, #B, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
