Joe J Martinez

Joseph Julio Martinez, age 73, passed away on November 8th, 2024, in Grand Junction, following a brief illness. 

As many of you know, Joseph was most commonly known as “Joe.” He was born on March 31st, 1951, in Grand Junction, Colorado, at St. Mary’s Hospital on Colorado Ave. He would tell you he was the first baby born there. He worked as a janitor at the court house and school district for many years. He also worked at Uranium Downs as a grounds keeper. 

Some of his most favorite things to do were fishing up on the Grand Mesa and spending time with his sons and grandkids. Joe was very caring, loving, and had lots of wisdom to share. Dad was always willing to help with whatever was needed. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Martinez (Hoppe), both parents, Luciano and Mary Roberta Martinez, both maternal and paternal grandparents, his brothers; Luciano and Frank Martinez and Tino Faustin, his sisters; Virginia and Sally Martinez and daughter Laticia Kay Terry. 

He is survived by son Joe (Tracy) Chad (Kendra) Joe, Rodger, Kimberly and Andrew. Joe had 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
