John Frederick Hamilton entered into eternal peace on May 19, 2024. John was born on May 23, 1951, and grew up in New York City with his parents George and Irene Scott Hamilton. He was an avid downhill skier as a young man, and after high school he continued to pursue that passion while attending the University of Colorado in Boulder. John graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. Following graduation, he worked for several Oil and Gas Companies as a Landman. It was at one of those companies that he met his future wife, Jaclyn (“Jackie”) Nettles. John and Jackie married in 1989, while John was employed as a Right of Way Agent with the Boulder County Transportation Department. John and Jackie built their dream home in Coal Creek Canyon where they lived for over 25 years. After Boulder County, John joined the Colorado Division of Wildlife as a Real Estate Specialist in the Habitat Section. He relished having a role in preserving habitat for wildlife in his beloved Colorado. After retiring from the DOW in 2005, he returned to the Oil and Gas Industry as a consulting Landman. When Jackie retired in 2016, they packed up their camper and dogs and headed for a summer’s long road trip to Alaska. John and Jackie realized their dream of retiring in Steamboat Springs in 2018. However, in 2021 John’s health forced them to relocate to Grand Junction. John’s passions included skiing, hiking with his dogs, camping, road trips, and scuba diving. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. John had a big heart, and cared deeply for his family, friends, and dogs. John suffered greatly from numerous health issues the last year of his life. Through all of his pain and suffering, he persevered with grace, kindness, love, humor, and faith. He is survived by his wife Jaclyn, his dog Rusty, sister-in-law Debbie (Tom) Lane, Aunt Linda Lessar, and numerous dear friends.
