John Henry

John Newell Henry, age 69, passed away August 9th following a brief illness at Hospice Care Center in his hometown of Grand Junction, Colorado. John was born to parents Newell Henry and Olga Jordan Henry on December 1, 1946. John graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1965 and attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. Upon graduating John started his career as a salesman mostly in the Grand Junction area. In 1978, John married the love of his life, Sandra Silva Montoya and was overjoyed to take on the responsibility of being a father to her children, Carl, Gina, Angie and granddaughter, Cassandra, throughout the rest of his life.
John enjoyed golfing and shot his first hole-in-one at age 15 at Lincoln Park. He also loved to hunt, fish, and camp and spend time with his family. In high school, John also wrestled, played baseball, football and ran track. He enjoyed his lunch outings with childhood friends Clint Lampshire, Gary Hoisington, Richard Planert, and Harold Alsin. John is preceded in death by his parents Newell and Olga and his wife, Sandra Henry.
John is survived by his stepchildren, Carl (wife Kim) Montoya, Gina (husband Ralph) Martinez and grandchildren Cassandra (husband Kirk) Pallotto, Matthew (wife Kseniia) Martinez, Shawn (wife Whittney) Martinez, Jeremy Montoya, and Jesse Montoya and by his two great grandchildren, Jazlyn and Zander Martinez, and a loving cockatoo named Cricket.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, August 16th at 1:00PM at Brown's Funeral Home at 904 N. 7th Street in Grand Junction. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made on behalf of John Henry to Hope West Hospice Center at 3090 N. 12th Street, Unit B, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
