John Lind died March 3, 2025 after a long fight with a genetic disease that eventually destroyed his liver. He was surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was 81 years old.
John was born in Chicago, Illinois. He lived in Nebraska as a young boy, where his family’s heritage goes back five generations. When he was a sophomore in high school, his family moved to Loveland Colorado where he graduated from Loveland High School. He had a lot of fond memories of his time in Loveland.
John met his wife, Kathy at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, and they were married in 1967. He graduated in business the next year and went to work for Continental Can Co., where he worked in industrial relations, including arbitrations, contract negotiations, hiring and firing. As he moved up the corporate ladder, they were transferred around the country. While they were in Florida, they were blessed with their daughter, Heather. His last position with Continental was at the corporate offices in New York, negotiating with labor and unions. After 9 years with the company, they moved back to Utah, where he was manager of industrial relations, in charge of hiring and firing, grievance management and labor contract management for a coal mine in Price, Utah. After 7 years there, they moved to Park City, Utah where he was involved with their public works department and refurbished houses in his spare time. In 2002, when the winter Olympic games came to Utah, John was in charge of making sure the Park City Venues ran smoothly. That was an exciting time! After 20 years there, the family moved to Mesa, Colorado, where he joined The Alternative Board, (TAB). He ran board meetings for owners of businesses that acted as peer advisors in lieu of having a formal board of directors. At the time of his death he was retired.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his sister (Roxie), and his brother (Jim). He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Kathy, daughter Heather (Dave), grandson Dante, Dave’s children, Deanna, Destiny, Kymber, Logan and William, Sister in Law Rosemary, her son Eric (Sarah) and nieces Michelle Isom, Danielle Schiemer, Jamie (Jim) Thomas and Jon (Debbi) Fillipi, along with numerous other grand nieces and nephews.
John loved the outdoors and enjoyed socializing with friends and family. He, with his family and friends spent many Easters at the Moab, Utah, jeep safari. They enjoyed not only the beautiful trails and comradery, but also the challenges of the many trails they traveled. In addition to refurbishing the Utah houses, John and Kathy refurbished their own 100 year old house , while they were living in it.The experience was at times intense, but well worth the effort. John wanted to take one more trip to Moab with his razor and family and friends, but it was not in the cards. May he rest in peace.
