Jonathan (Jon) was born in Port Townsend, Wash. on April 3, 1984. He passed away at his home in Grand Junction, Colo. on May 15, 2016.
Jon was raised in the Port Hadlock/ Port Townsend, Wash. area, attending both Chimacum and Port Townsend schools, graduating from Port Townsend in 2002. Active in sports all his life, he was a very proud Port Townsend Redskin on the football team. Jon loved the outdoors, spending many years camping, hiking, and fishing.
After graduation, Jon very proudly joined the Army. He served from 2003-2006 receiving his honorable discharge. He was a gunner and served a 13 month tour to Iraq. While serving, he received many medals, including the Marksman Marksmanship badge with rile bar, Army commendation medal, Army good conduct medal, National defense service medal, Army service ribbon, Overseas service ribbon, Combat infantry badge, Global war on terrorism service medal, and the Iraq campaign medal.
Always a very hard worker and giving his best, he worked in construction and as a firefighter/paramedic up until he left for Colorado. Most recently, he worked as an Emergency Room Technician at the VA hospital in Grand Junction, Colo.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was by far one of the funniest people, doing his impersonations whenever possible. When he loved you, you knew it. He loved with all of his heart. His big grin could light up the room, and the bear hugs he gave were unforgettable. Jon’s proudest moment in life was becoming a father to Jonathan James Robbins, born Dec. 30, 2015.
Memorial service/celebration of life was held at The Elks Lodge in Port Townsend on June 5, 2016. The ceremony was led by Jon’s uncle, Dave Hammer. A military service was held including motorcycles riding in the lags, a gun salute, the taps, and presentation of the lag to Jon’s mom, Tracy. Firefighters attended the service in uniform, which Jon would have appreciated so much. Following were many wonderful stories, a beautiful slideshow, and ending with a seafood feast/potluck.
Jon leaves behind his son, Jonathan James Robbins of Red Lodge, Mont.; parents Tracy & Eddie Babauta of Port Hadlock, Wash., and Ed Robbins of Vancouver, Wash.; brother Jason, his wife Ariana, and nephews Ethan and Mason Robbins all of Sequim, Wash.; brother Jacob Robbins of Kent, Wash.; grandparents Harold and Karen Hammer of Irondale, Wash.; stepbrothers Zachary and Tommy Robbins of Vancouver, Wash., and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also, his beloved dog Chloe who now lives with “grandma and grandpa” Tracy and Eddie Babauta.
In lieu of lowers, family would appreciate donations to Jon Robbins Memorial Account at First Federal Bank for his son Jonathan James, or to a PTSD organization of your choice.
