Joseph Stanley Swain

Joseph Stanley Swain, of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Larchwood Inn in Grand Junction, CO. He was 75 years old.

A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown's Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel in Grand Junction with Rev. Danny Wilke Hospice Chaplin officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Grand Junction Memorial Gardens with the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard officiating.

Joe was born in Grand Junction, CO at old St. Mary’s Hospital to Stanley Chiles and Mildred Lucy (Skees) Swain and was raised the first 13 years on a ranch in Paradox, CO. Joe was his dad’s right-hand man on the ranch with helping his dad with every aspect of ranching. When his dad passed away, he moved to Grand Junction, CO., and graduated from Grand Junction High School with the class of 1967. Joe went on to further his education at Mesa College. Joe served our country in the United States Air Force.

Joe married Lucy Harper on January 12, 1986, in Elko, NV. Joe and Lucy managed motels for Motel 6 in Flagstaff, AZ, and Green River, UT, as well as relief managers for several locations. They also managed a hotel In Palisade and storage sheds in Grand Junction, CO., before retiring.

Joe is survived by his wife Lucy of Grand Junction, CO, and 6 children, 2 daughters; Sherri Suazo (Tony) of Grand Junction, CO, Jolynn Swain Baughman (Damon) of Fruita CO: Four sons; Richard Belvins (Kim) of Browns Park, CO, Thomas Belvins (LeighAnn) of Aurora, CO, Daniel Swain (Amy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Stephen Swain of Littleton, CO: A brother Chalmer Swain (Marge) of Delta, CO: 14 grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren and 8 great~great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Dawn, and a grandson Chris Suazo.
