Judith Tina Rebecca Jansen Miss J J’s Story
Born 03-13-1976
Crossed Over 01-23-2021
Judy was adopted at an early age by Barbara Jansen and they located in Rifle, Colorado where Judy attended grade school.
Later, Judy attended a high school ( training program) in Glenwood Springs, where she then resided in a Community Group home. During this time Judy’s disability became overwhelming and she moved to the Grand Junction Regional Center.
With years of psychology treatment, counseling and with the help of therapy programs Judy was able to become more independent and live a much happier life.
Judy attended a work training program and was employed at Coors Teck in Grand Junction for 13 years. She worked in the “refire area” where they quality checked, counted and packaged porcelain circuit boards, which were recycled back into production.
Judy was so very proud of her job and the money that she earned.
She loved to “go to town” buy her some new costume jewelry, “Bling” as we called it. Judy enjoyed having her hair colored in various shades of purple and reds and frequently had her nails done.
She also looked forward to the times when she could go to Starbucks and buy a big, fancy, foo foo coffee or get a nasty cheese burger from Wendy’s or Burger King.
Judy belonged to a group for several years, called “The Purple Ladies Club”. This club made personal items, volunteered, had fancy luncheons, held fund raisers and collected donations that all went to local families and people in need.
In 2016 Judy moved to a host home in Palisade, Co. and much to our surprise, rather enjoyed the “country life”. Following her roommate, Caroline’s lead, Judy decided to retire. She got used to the family dogs and loved showing us the donkey and the ducks that were often down at the pond.
Judy then moved in with Leah, David, kids and Ely and quickly became part of the family. She adored Gina ( Leah’s sister ) and fell in love with her cat Boo. Judy enjoyed going to family BBQs and gatherings and playing with Raelyn.
Soon Judy warmed up to “Nellie “ the family cat.
She enjoyed hanging out at the swimming pool on a hot summer day.
J J had a “stubborn streak” and was not easily talked into things or changes.
I don’t know where she got THAT, as we are not blood related !!
Judy was well known for her sense of humor and famous for her “one liners”
Saying things like _______________________
And often made us laugh !
Judy’s Mother, Barbara Jansen of Denver, could not be with us today due to health issues, but plans to have a small, family Celebration of Life soon.
Judy was well loved by staff and Residents of the Grand Junction Regional Center and also Ariel Clinical Services.
J J will long be remembered and indeed be missed by those of us who’s lives she touched !!
