Karla Ackerman

February 10, 1954 — November 10, 2015

Karla Marie Ackerman, age 61, of Grand Junctrion, CO die suddenly, Tuesday, November 10th, 2015 at 7 p.m. She and Gary were returning home after doing what she loved - being on the road with Gary. They were coming back home from the Ulysses, KS project when she suffered a massive heart attack in the truck as they pulled into town. She was always at her happiest traveling with Gary and the crew, cooking for "the boys", as she lovingly referred to them. Kara was an amazing lady, full of love and fun and endless stories. Through her travels with Gary, she touched so many of our lives, and for that we are eternally grateful. Earth has lost one of the kindest souls, but heaven has gained a special new angel. Born February 10, 1954 in San Bernardino, CA she was the daughter of Marie Jackson Campbell of Windsor, CA and the late Eddie Richie Ashmore. She married Gary,  the love of her life, June 20, 1973 and they have spent over 42 wonderful years together.  Karla loved football, especially watching her favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.  But by far, her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Gary, three children, Tiffany Ackerman, Commerce City, CO, Kristopher, Ackerman and Kirsten (Tim) Hoselton, both of Grand Junction, her grandchildren, Jozef McClure and Deven McClure of Grand Junction, Blake McClure, Commerce City, CO, Destinyann and Kaedyn Hoselton, Grand Junction, Ronni, Kree, and Gabriella "GiGi" Ackerman of Concord, CA, Ashton Gravle, Thornton, CO. Sisters and brothers, Karen (Mike) Andrews, Phoenix, AZ, Kenny (Brenda) Ashmore, Mohave Valley, AZ, Judi (John) Haas, Rick (Ann) Campbell, Concord, CA, Max Ackerman, and Danny (Trish) Ackerman, all of Martinez, CA  Gary suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to one of her favorite charities: The Children's Leukemia Foundation or the March of Dimes.
