Kathleen Margaret (O’Connell) Abshire Dec. 26, 1946 - October 3, 2024

Kathy Abshire (77) of Grand Junction, CO, passed away peacefully at her home on October 3, 2024. Born December 26, 1946, in St. Paul, Minnesota she was the daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (Layland) O’Connell.

Kathy grew up in St. Paul until her high school years when the family moved to Phoenix, AZ. She graduated from Maryvale High School. After graduation, Kathy moved to Flagstaff, AZ and was a hostess for Trailways Bus, where she met her lifelong friends, Sharon Lotman and Bea Rasque.

Kathy was a loving and proud mother to her son, Eric Ludwick and daughter Angela (Ludwick) Himes. She enjoyed summers at the Little League baseball field, Scout Camp, dance/cheerleading and rodeo with the kids.

January 1, 1992 Kathy married her loving husband, Brian Thomas Abshire in Hawaii. They shared a love of swing dancing and travel.

Kathy was an avid reader, enjoyed watching football and could beat anyone at a game of Scrabble. She cherished her time with her kids and grandkids, especially if it involved ice cream.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Evelyn O’Connell, her brother Dennis O’Connell, her son Eric Ludwick and granddaughter Shania Ludwick. She is survived by her husband Brian Abshire, daughter Angela (Jeff) Himes and grandchildren Hudson Himes (17), Hailey Himes (17), Havana Himes (15) and Trevor Ludwick (26).

A Celebration of Life/Open House is planned for Oct. 19, 2024 from noon-6pm at the Abshire’s home.
