Kendall Bennett Young, 49, of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away tragically on January 2, 2025, while doing what he loved most. His adventurous spirit and dedication to life left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Kendall was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Gia Young, and a proud father to his four children, Tristan, Keade, Jensen, and Emily. He is also survived by his father, Bennett H. Young, his mother, Tana Herman-Young, his brothers, Jamie Young and Loren Young and his dogs Blue, Twiggy, and Gunnison. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and his love for them was unwavering.
A distinguished veteran, Kendall served with honor in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a chief petty officer. Throughout his military career Kendall served with distinction both stateside and throughout the globe earning numerous accolades for his service and commitment. Among his decorations were the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy "E" Ribbon, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon. His service reflected his courage, discipline, and dedication to his country and his constant selfless service to others.
Kendall’s passions extended beyond his military career. He lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and leaving a legacy of strength and love. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service to celebrate Kendall’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Chief’s Mess in Kendall’s name, honoring his spirit of generosity and service.
Kendall Bennett Young will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the extraordinary life he led and the honorable person he was.
