Calmore Oakley Campbell aka “Kevin Hype” was the first son born on September 8th, 1982, to Wilton and Sharon Campbell in Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies. He attended Petersfield High School and was involved in many activities during his school days. Although very humble, he aimed for excellence and acquired the Prefect status for his class. He was a computer science fanatic and enjoyed sound engineering. After graduation, he went into the family business to continue his father's legacy by building on Terrorist Sound system and music business.
Kevin was not only a great human being. He was loving, kind, genuine, ambitious, and highly driven. His accomplishments were endless and always aimed to seek more for him and his family. After migrating to the United States of America, Kevin was focused and knew that he can be anything his heart desired. He settled in Glenwood Spring, Colorado to work as the manager at the Ramada Hotel. His managerial career introduced him to many interesting people and places that was beneficial to his career.
Kevin later followed his dreams by successfully opening two KC’s Wings & Sports Bar located in Glenwood Springs, CO. As a businessman and an entrepreneur, he was very hands on, talented, multifaceted, and strived for perfection. KCs served some of the best West Indian meals and juicy wings in town. Because of his tenacity to serve others, his business flourished tremendously. Kevin decided to open his second KC’s Wing House and Sports Lounge in North Lauderdale, Florida. He stated that it was a challenging but exciting experience. However, he wanted to create and design a neighborhood hangout spot, with pool tables, entertainment, and a diverse menu that combines traditional American and Jamaican cuisines. As the owner, he never separated himself from the workers. You would always find him sweeping the floor and bussing the tables with a smile, treating everyone as equal.
With his big smile, Kevin would light up any room. At times, you would catch him observing from a distance. He loved to go on various adventures and had a passion for snowboarding. He liked gliding on the snow, going up in the mountains, or just hanging out with friends and family enjoying life. Kevin was the anchor for many and the matriarch for his family. He made sure everyone was well taken care of. He was “Uncle Kevin” to many, and Kevin Hype to some. He was his mother’s lifeline, a father for his children, a big brother for his siblings, a peacemaker for his family, and a good friend. The family is forever grateful for all his accomplishments during his short time on this earth.
Calmore Oakley Campbell departed this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memory; parents, Sharon Campbell, Wilton "Terro" Campbell, wife, Donna "Melissa" Campbell, children Calmore Campbell Jr., Elissa Campbell, Kevin D. Campbell, Khalil Topaz Campbell, sister & brothers, Stacey Campbell, Obrian Campbell, Tiana Campbell, Shaday Campbell, Olando Campbell, Senic Campbell, Jaheem Campbell, Taheem Campbell, and a host of other family and friends.
Kevin was beloved by everyone he met, young and old. He was very humorous, kindhearted and always willing to help others succeed by going above and beyond. A true entrepreneur, a musician, a gentle soul, a coach, a leader, and a mentor that will be deeply missed by all.
