Kitty Payton

January 13, 1951 — June 3, 2020

Kitty Lou Payton, age 69 passed away Wednesday June 3, 2020 at her home. Born January 13, 1951 in Grand Junction, CO to Charles and Joyce Ross. Kitty graduated from Grand Valley High School in 1969 where she met the love of her life, Jerald Ray Payton. They married November 1, 1968. Kitty loved taking care of her family and hosting family gatherings. Many memories were made in her home. There was always too much food but she was always afraid there wouldn’t be enough. She loved her grandchildren immensely and enjoyed watching them in their various activities. She was proud of them and loved to brag about their accomplishments. They were a huge part of her life and brought her great joy. She loved giving them treats and gifts and had a special bond with each of them. She loved the Lord and prayed for each family member each night before going to bed. She had an outgoing personality and made friends wherever she went.  She didn’t know a stranger. She had a welcoming spirit, big heart, was very generous, charismatic, kind, loving and was loved by all. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, dancing, going to Country Jam and concerts and attending JUCO. She loved old gospel music and had a beautiful voice. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Ross. Kitty is survived by her husband Jerry, her children Shiela (Timothy) Barber of Palisade, CO. Kirk (Christina) Payton of Grand Junction, CO and Jayme McManus of Palisade, CO. Her mother Joyce Ross (Grand Junction, CO) Sister Paula (Gary) Blunk of Seymour, MO and brother Mark (Kristie) Ross of Grand Junction, CO. Grandchildren Brian (Katelyn) Barber of Fruita, CO. Brooke Barber of Grand Junction, CO. Colton Barber of Longmont, CO. Dakota Payton of Clifton, CO Zaira Bollig of Grand Junction, CO. Mikayla McManus of Palisade, CO. and Rylee McManus of Palisade, CO.  Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She had a large extended family.

Viewing at 9:00

Service at 10:00

A graveside memorial will be held at Battlement cemetery at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Services.
