On Saturday, March 15, 2025, our beloved mother Konea Piffer Robbins, passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 84 years old.
Konea was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, sister, friend and neighbor. No one can match her giant heart. She loved the babies most of all, holding and rocking them. She was beloved Grandma Koko to her grandchildren and Auntie Koko to her nieces and nephews. She was a friend to all and all were welcome in her home.
Konea was born to Harry and Myrna Ray Pratt on October 14, 1941, in Thomas, Oklahoma. The family later moved to Carbondale—Colorado where she and her siblings Nick and Nancy loved to ride horses and be outdoors. Konea loved to sew, embroidery, and crochet. She played the piano beautifully but always wanted to play the guitar.
Konea married her high school sweetheart, Charles Larry Piffer, on March 31, 1960. They were married in the Manti Temple in Manti, Utah. Through their years together they had 6 children, - Lorna, Andrew, Polly, David, Julie, and Mindy. Konea had 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Konea was a busy homemaker and a businesswoman. She and Larry owned the Parker Motel in Carbondale which she ran. She also kept the books for Larry’s construction business. She loved to can food from the garden, and baking homemade wheat bread. She was an excellent seamstress like her mother and loved to sew clothes for her children. She was an avid genealogist and had many volumes of family genealogy. Konea also spent many years as a CNA caring for patients in assisted living as well as in her home so she could also care for Larry. She loved the old people and they loved her. She taught the lessons of love and service to others. She was kind and loving to all who entered her home.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Konea served in many capacities, as a visiting teacher, primary president, Relief Society President, various stake callings, and her favorite calling with the Young Women of the church.
Konea is preceded in death by her mother and father, Harry and Myrna Pratt, her son, Andrew Lawrence Piffer, her husband Charles Larry Piffer, her husband Joe Robbins and many more beloved family and friends. She is survived by her siblings, Nick (Fran) Pratt, and Nancy (John) McCune, her children Lorna (Mike) Riley, Polly (Brad) Davidson, David (Sloan) Piffer, Julie (John) Poole, Malinda (Nathan) Wheatley and 19 beloved grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
We feel the grief of her loss but also know it was her time to go back to her Heavenly Home with those she loved.
