Laurence Gierhart

April 12, 1949 — February 4, 2021

Born April 12, 1949, to Charles and Carolyn Gierhart in Gunnison, CO. He left this world peacefully on February 4, 2021, in Grand Junction, with family by his side and his beloved dog Sparky, while listening to his favorite singer, King of Country George Strait. Larry and his younger brother, Gary, grew-up and were raised primarily in Rangely, where he graduated from high school in 1967. Larry's daughter Toni was born while he and his first wife, Linda, lived in Rangely. Eventually, Larry and his family moved to the Eastern Slope as his job with West Gas, Public Service and later Xcel Energy took them across the state, and then landing permanently in Grand Junction in the early 90's.
After 43 gratifying years in the natural gas industry, he retired in 2014 to travel the world with his wife, Patti. Some of their most memorable adventures took Larry and Patti on a river boat up the great Mississippi River, across the American Battlefields of Europe, to Hawaii and beyond. Larry was a talented woodworker, a pretty decent auto mechanic and all around amazing Mr. Fix-It. He was passionate about the second amendment and an avid shooter, who enjoyed reloading bullets. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting in Western Colorado with his cousins from the Silt area. He was a proud patriot and loved this great country. He was very proud of and lit-up when spending time with his daughter and grandkids. We will all miss him dearly and are reassured he is now in his forever home.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife. He is survived by his wife of 18 year’s, Patti Rich of Grand Junction; his daughter Toni Gierhart-Shiner (John), grandson Timothy Rowland (Rhannon) and great granddaughter, Ella Rowland, of Colorado Springs; Megan McDonald of Greeley; Ashton Brady of Paonia; and brother Gary (Rachel) of Vernal, UT.
