Lauretta Lynne Cole

Lauretta Lynne Cole (Lynne), age 86, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on October 7, 2024 at her home following a long illness. Born April 29, 1938 in Wapato, Washington she was the daughter of the late Silas Smith and Laurine Smith. Lynne graduated from Fife High School in Fife, Washington. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Mesa College in Grand Junction (now Colorado Mesa University) during which time she earned the title of Colorado Student Nurse of the Year. For many years, Lynne was employed as a Registered Nurse at Community Hospital and later as a Psychiatric Nurse at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. 

Lynne married Roland Cole on June 28, 2002. She was a member of Victory Life Church in Fruita, Colorado and was totally devoted to her Lord and Savior, praying continually for her family and friends. She wrote many, many poems that ministered to numerous individuals and church groups and an unpublished book sharing the miracles of God she experienced during her lifetime. 

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Laurine Smith, her brother Brian Kip Smith and her daughter Diana Lyn Wangelin. 

Lynne is survived by her husband, Roland, and two sons, Doug (LaDawn) Wangelin and Darrell (Sherry) Wangelin both of Grand Junction, Colorado, two step-sons, Bruce (Marcia) Cole of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Brian (Michelle) Cole of Grand Junction, Colorado, three granddaughters, Ashleigh (Andrew) Dawson and Melissa (Darby) Davis of Fruita, Colorado and Brittany (Tyler) Jones of Grand Junction Colorado, four great-granddaughters, one great-grandson and numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Memorial Service will be October 15, 2024 at 11AM at Victory Life Church, Fruita, Colorado.
