Lester Ray McMickell

Lester Ray McMickell, age 82, died on February 18, 2025 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born on September 22,1942 in Denver Colorado, he was the son of the late Lester F. McMickell and Mary Hattie Seals.

Lester graduated from Sheridan high school, in Denver Colorado.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S Army. Lester had been employed as a dock shipping and receiving coordinator in the paper supply industry for 30 years. He also had worked as a driver for the railroad for 15 years.

Lester was also an avid Denver Bronco fan, and he had even gone to the Superbowl in Miami in 1999. He held season tickets to see the Broncos for over 40 years. He was also a bowler and golfer in his free time. Lester was known for his quiet but extremely friendly personality, never forgetting to sneak a joke in when he needed. 

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Lester F. McMickell and Mary Hattie Seals, his sisters, Jaunita McMickell, Mary Maxine Buckner as well as his brothers Joel McMickell and Roy McMickell.

Lester is survived by his sister, Lettie Evans (by two days), Velma Murphy, Darlene (Darrel) Clark, Bobbie McMickell, as well as 17 nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at The Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. 

 Lester's phrases 

"In heaven, there is no beer, that is why we drink it here. When we are gone from here, all of our friends will drink the beer."

"When you are young, the nose smells and the feet run. When you are old, its the opposite."
