Loraine Berg

Loraine Berg, age 90, died May 4th 2023 following a brief stay in a nursing home, as a result of a bad fall. She was born on March 9th 1933, on her parents farm, outside of Hastings, IA. She was the daughter of the late Everett and Edna Hockabout. Loraine graduated valedictorian of her high school in Hasting, IA.

Throughout her life she had a few different jobs that she loved, grocery store clerk (where she met her husband), drove a blind piano tuner, got her real estate license, was a bailiff, and also worked in a health food store. She had been retired for nearly 20 years.

Loraine volunteered at Meals on Wheels, Fruita Dinosaur Museum, and St. Mary's Hospital.

In high school, Loraine loved playing basketball. As an adult, she loved hiking, bowling, going to movies, writing poetry, knitting, crocheting, and loved listening to music (especially John Denver.)

Loraine was very loving, friendly, kind, caring and had a great sense of humor. She was hard working, very dedicated to family, loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had a very strong belief in God.

Loraine was preceded in death by: Husband Bernie Berg, her parents Everett and Edna Hockabout, brothers Donny and Roger Hockabout, and sister Kerin Ladd.

Loraine is survived by: Daughter Julie (Dave) Fisher, sons Rick and Randy Berg, siblings Kathy Skinner and Larry Hockabout, sister in-law Judi Hockabout, 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date!
