Lucas Inscho

July 23, 2002 — August 15, 2022

Lucas Allen Inscho, age 20, died unexpectedly on August 15,2022.

Born July 23, 2002 in Grand Junction CO, he was blessed with two sets of parents. His biological parents Rachel Inscho, Denver CO, and Jeff Wilkins, San Diego CA, loved him dearly and were a constant part of his life. His grandparents Patrick and Patricia Inscho, Grand Junction CO, who adopted him, raised him and stood by his side always.

Lucas lived with his family in a large, chaotic, supportive, multigenerational home. As an infant Luke was diagnosed with a condition that delayed his development.  Also, while being able to understand speech, he was unable to form words himself. After surgery, years of physical and speech therapy, determination and an unlimited amount of good nature Luke beat the odds.

Lucas graduated from R-5 High School, Grand Junction CO, in May 2020 at 17 years old. Despite not yet being 18 and the country shut down for a pandemic, he wanted to work. After a few temporary jobs he found a home as a tire tech at GCR Tire where he worked for almost a year. There he earned the respect of his coworkers and made friendships he valued. He got his drivers license at 19 and bought his first truck. He was proud of having bought it himself. His ambition was to get an associate’sdegree then open a food truck. He loved to cook and the rest of his family loved his chili.

When Lucas wasn’t working, he enjoyed working out and boxing with friends. Many evenings found him playing basketball with his younger brothers or watching movies with his aunt and uncle. He was passionate about his dogs and enjoyed taking them camping whenever possible.

While Luke was always happiest next to his grandpa, his love of people defined him. Everyone was his friend and he could never be mad at anyone longer than a minute. He had a crazy sense of humor which could catch you off guard with the funniest comment, then later he would be giggling over the dumbest video. No matter what, he had a smile that made others want to smile too.

Lucas was preceded in death by his grandfather, Patrick Inscho.

Lucas is survived by his grandmother, Patricia Inscho, parents Rachel Inscho and Jeff (Collista) Wilkens, brothers Jacob Inscho, Matthew Jansen, Dillon Flint, Jeremy Wilkins, and Ryder Wilkins, aunt Melissa Inscho (Royce Duncombe), cousins Nathanial and Shayla Matheny, and a large extended family in Wisconsin and California.
