Luella Marie Dumont, passed away August 24, 2023 surrounded by her family in Grand Junction, CO. Mrs. Dumont was born in Sunrise, Wyoming to Otto H and Evelyn Burger and moved with her family at age 4 to Grand Junction. She was the youngest of 5 siblings, Robert Otto Burger, William Patrick Burger, Danny Harrison Burger, and Donna Mae Burger) Lopas. She graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1957. She married her high school sweetheart, Dale Dumont in 1959. They initially spent a few years in the Santa Monica, CA area but settled in Grand Junction to raise their three children, Lyle Curtis Dumont 63, Cheryl Dumont Corazza 58, and Kristina Lee (Dumont) Weber 51.
Dale and Luella have four grandchildren; Amanda Dumont 37, Kristin Martin 36, Josef Aaron Goodwin 30 and Ethan Geoffrey Weber 19. They have 1 great-grandchild, Greyson Martin 3.
Luella was a housewife and also helped manage the family business. She was happiest in a roomful of people. Luella was in a bowling league for over 40 years and loved traveling for the annual tournament. Her and Dale’s favorite getaway place was Lake Powell with kids, grand kids and friends. For 30 years she participated the annual book bazaar at the Lincoln Park Barn to benefit the Mesa County Public Library. She happily hauled her kids to: little league, soccer, dance lessons, cub scouts, girl scouts, band practice and concerts, motorcycle races, and skiing at Powderhorn. She taught her kids and grandkids self-sufficiency, self-respect and a sense of humor.
An open house to honor and celebrate Luella will be held in their home in Grand Junction, September 23, 2023 11am - 2pm.
