Lura (Peggy) M Arant 1917-2016 Peggy was born in Longton, Kansas on April 1, to Charles and Sadie (Mort) Bryant. She was the sixth of seven children, 4 girls and 3 boys. She came from a hard working farming family and was her dad's "right hand man" on the farm, still being at home after her older siblings had moved away. In her spare time, she read, played the violin and sang in church. After graduation, she attended teacher's training and taught school for one year before moving to California to live with her oldest sister and to help her with her family. She stayed in California for two years before following her parents to Colorado after they had moved to the Appleton area. It was while she was working as a waitress that she met her future husband Bailey Arant. They were married in November 1940. Five children followed. Although she worked outside the home at several jobs, even retiring from City Market, her most important job was raising her children. Her hobbies included bowling, crocheting, gardening, fishing, and baking as well as spending time volunteering at her church. Peggy made her transition to heaven on September 29. She is pre deceased by her husband, an infant grandson and one son-in-law. She is survived by her children Shirley (Jerry) Quinn, and Bonnie (Skip, deceased) Goldberg of Grand Junction; Cherryl (Earl) Arterburn of Parker; Ron (Bobbie) of Nucla and; Debra (Ted) Tursick of Carpinteria, CA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and their spouses, and 13 great-grandchildren. She loved her family, and her family cherished her as well. It was very important to her to pass along her love of God and His love for us to her family and friends. Her legacy will be her gentle spirit, the kindness she showered on all around her, and that each of her children have a relationship with God as their Savior and continue to pass that down to their own children and grandchildren. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Contributions can be made to HopeWest Hospice. Thank you to everyone at HopeWest Hospice for the care and support they gave our mother and our family.
