Manville Foster Werner, “Manny”, joined his beloved wife, Dorothy Virginia (Reed) Werner, “Dot”, on the seventh of June, 2017. He was 97 years old. Manny enjoyed good health until he passed quietly as he slept. Born on January 24, 1920 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Manny was the son of Stanton Edward Werner and Florence Dick. He met the love of his life, Dot, while attending youth classes at church. Later, he attended New Brunswick High School and Rutgers Preparatory School. Manny enjoyed many sports, including football, baseball, boxing and swimming. Manny and Dorothy dated during high school and married in 1941. Manny was a veteran of the US Navy, serving as a radarman on PT Squadron 33 in the Philippines during World War II. After the war, Manny returned to his young family and to his career as an engineer and project estimator on large construction developments. He led teams building schools, laboratories and other commercial and municipal projects. He liked bowling and golf and spending time with his family at the New Jersey sea shore where he enjoyed sailing, boating, swimming and water-skiing. Manny retired from Wigton-Abbott Corporation and he and Dorothy moved to Florida – a life-long dream. Later, they resided together in Massachusetts. In 2016, Manny moved with his daughter to Grand Junction, Colorado. Manny was preceded in death by Dorothy in August, 2008. Manny is survived by his sons Stanton and M. Foster and his daughters, Janice, Florie and Jennifer, their spouses, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To fulfil Manny and Dot’s wishes to have their ashes scattered together, the family will have private scattering ceremonies. As there will be no service and in lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Manny’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project: woundedwarriorproject.org.
