It is with great sadness that the family of Margery Hoener Fillinger announce her death on April 5, 2024. She died holding her husband Norm’s hand, surrounded in prayer by her family and so many others that loved her. Her passing will leave an empty space in our hearts, but we know that she is with our Savior and for that we give thanks. We will walk slowly, pausing often, and be gentle with ourselves and our loved ones, as we walk with the grief of our loss.
Margery is survived by her beloved husband, Norm, and her daughter, Deborah Coles, and husband Chris; her son, Michael Daniels, and wife, Barbara; stepdaughter Julie Knight, and husband Dean, and her brother Bud Hoener, and wife Marcia. Some of the most important people in her life, and whose lives she greatly influenced, were her nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Margery was an educator, Education administrator, counselor, community advocate and touched the lives of hundreds of others, unknown to us, but known to God.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Grand Junction on Friday, April 19th at 1 PM. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the service with time to share stories, remembrances, and to reflect upon our love for this wonderful woman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:
P.E.O., Chapter GF, a sisterhood that supports women’s education.
The Colorado West Land Trust, https://cowestlandtrust.org/donate/
The Safehouse Project, which works to advocate, eradicate, and support victims of sexual trafficking and violence. Safehouseproject.org
All these causes were very close to Margery’s heart.
