Marie E. Greager, a life-long resident of Norwood, passed away Saturday May 21, 2016 at Mesa Manor Care Center in Grand Junction after a brief illness, She was 94. She was born Marie Elizabeth Davis on September 25, 1921 in Norwood, the oldest of two children, to Richard J. and Mary Davis. Marie graduated from Norwood High School and then from Design and Dressmaking school in Brooklyn, New York the following year. She married George Blair in 1941, who is now deceased. She later married Herman E. "Jack" Greager, who died January 15, 1993 at St. Mary's hospital in Grand Junction. In the 1950's she wanted to fly an airplane so she took lessons and made her solo flight over the Norwood area. She also enjoyed using her artistic talents designing and sewing clothing, as well as making creative wall hangings and beautiful tole paintings. She is survived by one daughter, Georgia Blair of Norwood; and two sons Albert "Bud" Blair and his wife Anna of Grand Junction and Richard Blair of Colorado Springs, She is survived by eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, her parents, her brother Gerald Davis and a great-granddaughter, Zelda Gwen Van Metre in 2010. Marie's spiritual faith was as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. The family wants to thank the Mesa Manor Center and HopeWest Hospice Center in Grand Junction for their kind care and support when needed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
