Marilyn Roller Foraker was born July 8, 1941, and went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2021 after more than 70 years in Grand Junction.
Marilyn was born in Seligman, MO, and the family moved to Phoenix and Cedaredge before settling in Fruitvale (Grand Junction) in 1952. While living on 31 Road, she fell in love with the boy across the street. She and Roy Foraker, who had recently returned from Army service in Korea, were married in 1958. They were married for 56 years until Roy died in 2015.
Always busy, Marilyn taught kindergarten, worked in a medical office, and eventually was hired by City Market, where she retired from the bakery and as a cashier.
She enjoyed crafts, was handy with construction (helping to build a new family home twice), remodeling, decorating, and supporting others with their needs or projects. A lifelong Christian (her grandmother was a minister), Marilyn was active in First Assembly of God and later Cross Point Church.
She was the third of five children. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by brothers Paul Ray and Terry and sister Lois Nickerson. Her older brother Dale survives.
To Marilyn, family was everything. She is also survived by two children: Greg (Lois) Foraker and Karen (Reford) Theobold; four grandchildren: Ryan Foraker (Dr. Emma Schlager), Janessa (Sergio) Salgado, Dr. Allison Theobold (Laura Smith) and Kalinda Theobold; one great grandson: Bodie Salgado.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Monday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at Cross Point Church, 2697 Highway 50.
