Marjorie Lamarsh

Marjorie “Sue” LaMarsh, age 83, died on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Sue was born on January 18, 1937 in Alton, Illinois to Herbert and Lucille McAfoos.  Sue moved to Greeley, Colorado in 1965 with husband, Boyd, and their two children, Karen and Kevin, so Boyd could pursue his doctorate at Colorado State College (now UNC).  They divorced in 1970.  Sue worked hard to achieve her own education after the divorce and with two children at home.  Sue received her education degree and teaching credentials from UNC and went on to get her master’s in education from CSU.  Sue retired from teaching in 2000 and moved to Grand Junction to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.  Always the teacher, Sue volunteered at the local library to tutor adults who were learning English or preparing for their GDE or citizenship.  Sue loved to read and had a passion for cooking for the family.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren!

Sue is preceded in death by her son, Kevin, who was killed in a car accident in Norway, while serving as a Rotary Exchange student.  Sue is survived by her daughter, Karen (Steve), grandchildren, Will, Tim (Shannon), Sam, and Sali (Juan), and great grandchildren, Levi and Roma.

No services are planned at this time.  Please take a trip to your favorite ice cream establishment, have something special and think of Sue.  She loved her trips with family and friends to Enstrom’s for ice cream!  And if you have the opportunity, please support your local Rotary Club.
