Mary Ann Wright

Mary Ann Wright, a lifelong resident of Grand Junction, passed away at her home January 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was born in a little house on 4th and Teller on January 31 1938, to Frank and Bertha Wright, she was the youngest of nine children. Mary Ann was an avid gardener and her yards were places of peace and solace in every home she owned. She could always be found working in her yard, reading a book, or spending time with her family. She also loved downtown Grand Junction and the Grand Mesa where she would snowshoe and X-country ski.

She was a lifelong learner that loved to read and explore a myriad of topics, she was also a wonderful cook who never needed a recipe. Mary Ann is survived by her seven children, David Carpendale (Kari), of Grand Junction, Kathy Myers of Grand Junction, Thomas Carpendale of Grand Junction, Lee Anne Glass of Cedaredge, CO, Jennifer Glass of Cedaredge, CO, Marcella Lafferty of Littleton, CO and Robert Lafferty (Dorothy) of Lakewood, CO. Twelve grandchildren: Danielle Kalmbach, (Andrew), Lisa Myers, Stephanie Graham (Joe), Buddy Carependale, Lucy, Misty Trower, Anthony Trower, Mary Ann Carpendale, Reshaunda Evans, Dimitri Lafferty, Willem and Claire aan de Stegge. Nine Great grandchildren; Landon and Bau Savauge, Casey Staggs, Caitlyn Purcella, Riliegh Evans, Peyton Evans, Ben Grady and Ava and Lucia.. She has one great great granddaughter Kylah Staggs.

Mary Ann was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed. There will be a celebration of Mary Ann's life January 27 at the Eagles Lodge on Orchard Mesa from 1-4 pm.
