Mary Chrysella Campbell, 73 died February 27, 2022 peacefully in her home.
Chrys was born May 15, 1948 in LaJunta, CO to Thomas and Mary ( Parks) Dye. The second in line of 10 children.
Chrys graduated Bayfield High School in Bayfield, Colorado. Class of 1966.
She went back to school at age 52 and earned her associates degree in accounting.
Chrys was a very hard worker her entire life and had a very strong work ethic.She had been employed as a cook at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, CO and Ft Lewis College in Durango, CO and she also worked as a dietary aide for many years in nursing homes as well as helping many seniors in her communities with homemaking tasks.
Chrys loved fishing, reading, baking, cooking (she made the best fudge at Christmas) and spending time with her family; happily reminiscing her childhood and life with her family and friends. She loved wolves and everything about Indian Heritage. Some of her favorite memories included long scenic drives and picnics by the lakes.
Chrys was very friendly and always made others feel welcome and accepted. She always saw the good in everyone and was never one to judge.
Chrys had very strong family values and loved her children and grandchildren beyond words, always helping others when she could and had a strong unwavering faith in God and his promises to us.
Chrys is survived by two children: Wesley ( Bridget) Campbell, Crystal (James) Gerard; 7 grandchildren- Dalton, April(Robert), Orion(Keli), Kenneth, Aspen, Alexxys and Sadie as well as 3 great grandchildren Kora Chrysella, Silas Michael and Benjamin Kenobi. One adopted daughter: Andrea Edwards and five adopted grand children Dustin, Brianna, Brittney, Angelina and Justin.
She is also survived by five sisters:
Barbara Dye, Carol “Pinky” Hall (Ed), Alma “Skeeter” Schmitz(Buddy), Dolores Cugnini(Mark), Pauline Dye and 11 nieces, 6 nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and 2 brother in laws she held very dear John Cugnini, Jr and Jimmy Bridge.
Chrys is proceeded in death by her parents, daughter Katherine Campbell, sisters Diana “Marlene” Conklin, Esther Bridge and Kathy Reese, and nephew Rick Conklin.
A celebration of life will be held July 9, 2022.
