Mary Esther Carpenter, 68, went home to be with our Lord on November 20, 2017 surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with cancer. Mary was born on August 15, 1949 in Fort Collins, CO. She was the eldest daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn Wallace. Mary was married to the love of her life, Phil Carpenter, for a blissful 48 years. She cherished her role as wife and mother. Mary was the beloved mother of Jim (and Missy) Carpenter of Fruita; Brian Carpenter of Fruita; Alison (and Kasey) Sipe of Lakewood; and the late Todd Carpenter. Mary adored spending time with her grandchildren: Ethan, Jackson, and Bailey; she was overjoyed to hear the news of Baby Sipe arriving in June. Her grandchildren will always remember how Mary would say, “I love you to the moon and back.” Mary was the best big sister anyone could ask for. Her sisters, Cathy Torgerson of Salina, UT and Bobbi Ryan of Wellington will forever remember their sister’s love of life and unconditional love & acceptance. Mary shared a sisterly bond with Jackie Marshall of Wellington. Mary treasured her large extended family and dear friends; each one held a special place in her heart. Mary graduated from Clear Creek High School in Idaho Springs and then studied cosmetology in Denver. Mary was known through the communities of Fort Collins, LaPorte, and Fruita for her loving heart, sincere kindness, and generous nature. She had a way of touching the lives of everyone she met and will forever be missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at noon at LaPorte Presbyterian Church at 3820 W. County Road 54G, LaPorte, CO 80535.
