Mary Elaine Dey was born to James and Miriam Dey on February 18, 1946, in Las Animas, Colorado. The family moved to Colorado Springs and Palmer Lake, where Mary attended school until they moved to Buena Vista, where she graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1964.
Mary was an extremely creative and talented artist. She wore many hats in her lifetime, from driving a school bus to being a travel agent and tax advisor, and she took great pride in owning Art, Etc., her framing and art supply store in Craig, Colorado. Mary enjoyed being active with her family and friends golfing, bowling, hunting, camping, and fishing.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, James M. Dey, and is survived by her mother, Miriam E. Dey of Grand Junction, Brother Mack (Cheri) Dey of Buena Vista, CO; sons Mike (Kate) Smith of Grand Junction, CO and Jim Smith of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Tyler Smith (Denver, CO), Dylan Smith (Grand Junction, CO), Cody (Rebekah) Smith (Cleveland, TX), Abbey Smith (Grand Junction, CO), Lily Seydel (La Grande, OR), and three great-grandchildren.
Mary requested there be no services. Her smile and laugh will be sorely missed.
