Mary “Hope” Gomez
Delta resident Hope Gomez passed away November 21, 2018 at HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction, CO. She was 75 years old. Ms. Gomez was born to Jose Gomez and Andrea (Valdez) Gomez.
She spent her childhood in Delta and attended Delta schools. She lived in Delta most of her life and in Elko, Nevada for a short time.
Hope enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, puzzles and spending time with friends and family, and cherishing her grandchildren. She was well known for her cooking and witty sense of humor.
She is survived by her children, Teri Campos (Lalo) of Delta, Pete Gomez (Carla) of Denver, Randy Salazar of Rifle, and Monica Cruz(Felipe) also of Rifle. Hope also helped raise several of her nieces. She has 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.
Hope was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Andrea Gomez, Brothers Jesse James, Alex and Joe Gomez. Sisters Amelia “Lisa” Flanery and Margarita Salazar and niece Carla Gomez, whom she raised.
A Family Only Viewing will be held on Thursday at 4 pm and a Friday Rosary (open to the public) will begin at 7 PM
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1250 Pioneer Rd., Delta, CO. Following will be a graveside service at the Delta City Cemetery and a Celebration of Life back at the church. Pastor Paul Espinosa and James Conley will be officiating.
