Mary A. Searson, 71, of Grand Junction, CO died on July 27, 2022, following a long illness.
Mary was born November 28, 1950, in Southern Illinois in the town of Anna to Corbie and Margaret (Carson) Stewart. Her family later moved to Central Illinois where she graduated from Tremont High School and then later from the Bloomington School of Practical Nursing where she earned her LPN degree. Besides working at hospitals in Illinois before moving to Colorado, she worked at the V.A. and St. Mary’s Hospitals in Grand Junction, working at St. Mary’s for 30 years before retiring.
Mary loved watching NASCAR races with her husband and making trips to Vegas where they married on January 6, 1985. She also loved to sew, and was quite talented, making quilts, curtains, and other various items. She particularly liked using John Deere fabric as she came from a John Deere family. She enjoyed vacations at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri with family and extended family where nothing kept her from enjoying time in the water, driving a jet ski, or taking a boat ride. She also was a skier, but her first love was always for her family and her precious dogs. She was very strong-willed, determined, and that spirit kept her going even when times were difficult. Mary will be lovingly remembered by all that knew her for her expertise and knowledge in the nursing community. Her heart of gold and her spirit of gentle kindness will carry on to all those that she has touched.
Mary is survived and will be lovingly missed by her husband of 37 years, Michael, and sons, Cory, Grand Junction; Shawn (LisaMarie) of Colorado Springs. Grandchildren, Gabriel, Briana and Landon; Brother, Tom Stewart, Tremont Illinois and sister, Patty (Rick) Battles, Colchester, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. She had a special relationship with her niece, Sharyl.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leonard, Bill, and Clarence Stewart; and one sister Dorothy (Stewart) Clark.
Funeral services celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:30 AM at the Green River Bible Church 320 Main Street Green River, UT 84525. Burial immediately following in Elgin Cemetery, Green River.
