Max Fluckiger

Max T. Fluckiger, age 84, died on December 14, 2017, in Grand Junction, Colorado, following a long illness.

He was born April 21, 1933, in Bedford, Wyoming, to Mary Ada and John Joseph Fluckiger. He graduated from Star Valley High School in 1950 and attended the University of Wyoming for two years. He served in the United States Navy for four years as an air controlman.

He was employed as an air traffic controller for 31 years and as an instructor for 7 years at the Denver Air Route Traffic Control Center in Longmont, Colorado. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time outdoors. He volunteered at the Dinosaur Journey Museum, the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, and St. Mary's Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister. Max is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughters Tammy (Doug) Hamel of Lake City and Wendy (Cal) Fluckiger-Brown of Grand Junction, and his grandsons Tom and Zach Hamel.
