Melissa Mikesell

March 8, 1988- March 14, 2015 A limb has fallen from our family tree. Melissa Ann Mikesell “Mouse” was the 6th daughter of Dave and Terry Mikesell and the baby of our family. Melissa died of natural causes on March 14, 2015. Mouse was the most caring, giving and loving person in the world. Her innocence was inspiring. She loved children and animals and they loved her. She was the first person to “snatch up” babies at family gatherings. Melissa’s caring spirit drew her to work at Strive where she could care for those in need. Melissa would often take her clients on her days off on trips to help them enjoy life outside of their homes. Melissa loved to travel with her best friend, sister and “Partner in crime” Barbara. Together in her short 27 years they shared adventures all over the world. Her favorite vacation was cruising or camping on the beaches of Hawaii. Melissa is survived by her parents Dave and Terry Mikesell, 6 sisters Barbara Mikesell, Jamie Leafty, Cari (Doug) Thomason, Khris (Kevin) Kees, Ann (Josh) Amelang, Laura (David) Kligora and one brother, Robert Leafty. Melissa is also survived by 5 nephews, 6 nieces and 2 great-nephews. Melissa’s devotion to the Lord and our knowledge that she is now with her savior has helped soften the devastation we are all feeling. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Mouse’s life will be held Saturday March 21st at 1:00 at Canyon View Vineyard Church.
