Melva Lynn Butler

Melva Lynn Butler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 in Grand Junction, Colorado surrounded by family. Born on January 8, 1947, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, Melva was the daughter of Walter and Margret Butler.
Melva's vibrant spirit and love for animals were evident from a young age. She cherished her pet duck, Kadiddle Hopper, who faithfully trailed her wherever she went. Throughout her childhood, Melva was an active participant in various endeavors, including 4H, cheerleading, and the Mill Iron Wranglers, where she thrived in the excitement of rodeos.
Melva was married to the love of her life, Darrel Irvin, from 1965-1994. Together, they raised three remarkable daughters: Teri (Mike) Hack, Tami (Corey) Hafey, and Toni (Scot) Brown, in the close-knit community of Craig, Colorado.
One of Melva's greatest joys was supporting her daughters and later her grandchildren in their athletic pursuits. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines or offering words of encouragement, Melva's unwavering presence was a source of strength and love for her family.
Melva was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Margret Butler, and her brother, Bill Butler. She is survived by her loving children, eight cherished grandchildren, two adored great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Melva's memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends for generations to come.
A celebration of Melva's life will be held on June 15th, 11 a.m. at 2545 Moonridge Dr. Grand Junction. A light lunch will be served, if you live in the Grand Junction area please consider bringing a salad/side or dessert to share.
