Melvin L. "Bud" King, age 95, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away at LaVilla Grande Care Center Friday, October 3rd, 2014. Born November 28, 1918 in Highmore, South Dakota, he was the son of George and Barbara Lusk King. Bud and Margaret Hall were married February 9, 1943, and they have celebrated 71 wedding anniversaries together. Bud had been a dry-land farmer in South Dakota for many years, and then worked as a machinist for the South Dakota State Cement Plant. He retired after more than 40 years of service. When the children were young, Bud was active on the school board. He loved fishing and would take his little boat out as often as he could. He liked to play pool and enjoyed traveling. A self taught woodworker, he created many lovely wooden art objects. He and Margaret enjoyed spending winters in Mesa and Apache Junction, AZ. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, six sons, Wayne (Bonnie) King, Silver City, New Mexico, Roger (Teri) King, Tonto Basin, AZ, Dale King, Gillette, WY, Jerry (Tammy) King, Greensboro, NC and Marlyn (Rhonda) King,Gillette, WY, Darol (Donna) King, Conifer, CO and one daughter, Jeanette (Craig) Underwood, Casper, WY, Twelve grand children and three great grandchildren.
