Ann “Mema” Pettit, age 88 of Palisade, CO, died June 27, 2017 at Aspen Ridge Care Center following a long illness.
Born September 11, 1928 in New Haven, CT, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Marie Ceravone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Pettit.
Ann was a Purchasing Agent for a major hospital in West Palm Beach, FL for 20 years.
She enjoyed music, reading, concerts and theatre. She had a great sense of humor and was especially proud of her Italian heritage.
After moving to Palisade to be with her daughter, Mema could always be found at the family fruit stand or at the Post Office catching up with her friends. Mema loved being at the fruit stand, especially when a customer would ask her for her autograph on a “Mema” product. You would never see Mema without her purse, no matter where she went. But oddly enough, she spent most of her time looking for it! Everyone who knew Mema knows she loved life: she was a mix of classy, sassy and a little kick-assy.
Survivors include a daughter, Renee (Bruce) Herman of Palisade, and a son, David (Linda) Sosensky of Blairsville, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley (David) Grove and Stone; Brett (Sandy) Sosensky and Lillyanne; Bryan (Brooke) Sosensky and Easton, Elijah, Emry; Ryan (Tricia) Fitzgerald and Weston, Lainey, Kaiya.
Services will be Friday, June 30, 2017 at 2 P.M. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Palisade.
Please consider making a memorial contribution in Mema’s name to HopeWest Hospice, 3090 N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO 81506
