Michael David Chandler, age 67 died on December 20, 2022 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction Colorado with his children at his side.
Born June, 18, 1955 in Denver Colorado, he was the son of the late Dell Chandler and Mary Ramsey.
Michael graduated from Mapleton High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served in the evacuation of the Vietnam war.
Michael loved to talk about his job as an engineer for the Rio Grande. He also enjoyed working in the engineering department for the City of Thornton before he retired and moved to Grand Junction Colorado in 2017.
He enjoyed riding his Harley everywhere and anywhere. But his favorite thing was being present at all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He was the most present grandpa “papa”.
Michael loved to be with his son growing up- being a race dad on the motocross tracks with his son were some of his favorite times with Nicholas.
After moving to Grand Junction his daughter Nichelle and him grew incredibly close. He was there for any “fix-it” needs or just to go pick up Dec from the bus stop when work was running late.
Michael was preceded in death by: His mother and father as well as his brother Johnny.
Michael is survived by: Children Nicholas Chandler and Nichelle (Jesse) Ruland, Sister Adell Blaire and Grandchildren Rhyder and Blake Chandler, and Declan and Rylan Ruland.
Viewing will be held at Browns in Grand Junction Colorado on January 13, 2022 at 11am. Please feel free to come by and say your goodbyes.
We will have a Veteran Ceremony at Fort Logan in Denver Colorado on January 19th at 1:30pm.
