Nancy Sue Jones

Nancy Sue Jones, age 85, died Monday, October 21, 2024, following a long illness. Born January 16, 1939, in Cannelton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Oschal and Ruth McCoy. Nancy graduated from Montgomery High School in Montgomery, WV, and married Bernie shortly thereafter. Although their lives together started in West Virginia, Bernie’s transfer to Uravan in 1967 was the first of many adventures in Colorado. They shared a wonderful life filled with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, lifelong friends, and – of course – dogs!

Nancy loved cooking and baking, especially when she could share wonderful meals with friends and family. She always found the joy and humor in everyday life and believed in sharing that joy with the many people she helped along the way. Nancy looked forward to swimming with her friends and finding the best bargains at local thrift stores.

Gardening and growing beautiful flowers occupied much of Nancy’s time later in life, always with a wonderful canine companion by her side. Although she battled dementia for several years, Nancy never lost her sense of humor or her zest for life. She passed peacefully with her husband of 69 years by her side.

Memorial services will be held Monday, October 28, 2024, at Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Services, 904 N. 7th Street, Grand Junction, CO. Viewing will be held at 12:00 pm with the service beginning at 12:30 pm. Graveside service immediately following at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
