Nickanor Valdez

Nickanor John Valdez, a lifelong resident of Delta, Colorado passed away, October 14, 2021 at St. Mary’s hospital.

He was born July 29, 1951 to John S. and Margaret M. Valdez.  He was 70 years old.  He attended school in Delta. Nick married Lucille Millican, the love of his life on Nov. 30, 1970.  As a youth Nick worked with his dad in the mountains.  This is where he learned to love nature and the sprawling beauty of the mountains.  He spent many years working in the Mines operating heavy equipment and as a truck driver.  He was very mechanically inclined and good at everything he decided to do.  Nick loved hunting, spending time up at his cabin and doing yard work.  He dearly loved his family.

Nick is survived by his wife Lucille Valdez of Olathe, Co. Daughter, Theresa Wilson of Delta. Son, John R. Valdez of Montrose. Sister, Kathy Martin (Wendell) of Phoenix.  Brother, Chuck Valdez (Phyllis) of Delta. Two granddaughters, Brittney and Nicole. Two great-grandchildren, Kyus and Kleo.  Three Nephews, Troy, Mike, and Andrew. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one niece.  Nick will be terribly missed by us all. He was deeply loved.
