Patricia Sandy

Patricia Ann (Bolles)  Sandy of Grand Junction, CO died at the Hope West Hospice Care Center on September 24, 2018 in Grand Junction, CO .

Born August 13, 1943 to Edgar Max and Ila Mae Bolles, Patricia’s early years were spent enjoying the countryside and mountains of the Western Slope and ice-skating and roller-skating. Patricia, known as “Pat” or “Patty” to family and friends, went to school in Grand Junction, CO and James Edward Ash (also of Grand Junction and later, Hawaii).  They had three children; James (Jim) Edward, Traci Lynne, and Steven Edgar.  Pat and Jim moved to Anchorage, Alaska and later divorced.  In 1971, Pat met and married Vance Wayne Sandy, and with Vance’s two children from a previous marriage; Steven Wayne and Julie Ann; their family was almost complete.  In 1973, Pat and Vance welcomed another son into the family, Vance Wayne Sandy, Jr.  Together they raised their children; Jim, Traci Lynne, and Steven Edgar.  Later, Vance, SR. adopted Jim, Traci Lynne, and Steven Edgar.  In 1976 the family moved to Moline, Kansas to be with Vance, SR's parents.  Pat and Vance bought a farm implement and hardware store and a small farm.  Pat was active in their small community and kept busy raising their children and with farm life.

After her kids graduated from high school, Pat decided she would pursue a nursing career and began college classes at the age of 48.  She obtained her associate's degree in psychology, her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and then her Master’s degree to become an advanced family nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist.  She enjoyed nursing in Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado and Alaska.

Pat enjoyed square dancing, handcrafts, music, reading, sewing, needlepoint, and gardening.  She was a talented artist in drawing and oil painting.  Pat loved the Lord and was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God.

She is survived by her children and step-children; Step-son Steven Wayne Sandy and wife Doris (Anchorage, Alaska), step-daughter, Julie Ann (Sandy) Saugstad (Anchorage, Alaska), son, James (Jim) Edward Sandy and wife Rhonda (Bonney Lake, Washington), daughter Traci Lynne (Sandy) Swanwick and husband Duane (Alma, Kansas), son Steven Edgar Sandy and wife Laura (Monument, Colorado), and son Vance Wayne Sandy, Jr. (Girard, Kansas).  Her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, her mother, Ila Mae Bolles (Grand Junction, Colorado), her sister, Linda Rae (Bolles) Taylor (Grand Junction, Colorado), and nieces,  nephews,  and cousins.
