Patrick Joseph Tewell

Patrick Joseph Tewell, age 34, went home to be with Jesus, January 20, 2024.

He was born September 15, 1989 in Cortez, CO, and is the son of James H. Tewell Sr. (Pleasant View, CO) and Leah K. Hancock (Grand Junction, CO).

Patrick graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School and went on to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. 

After working in the hospitality industry for many years, he was promoted to Assistant General Manager at La Quinta Inn of Grand Junction, CO. 

Patrick was a lover of all types of art and music.   He excelled in visual arts across multiple mediums and won three Gold Key Awards from the Denver Institute of Art by the age of 18.  Several of his pieces have been shown and sold in the Durango Art Center gallery.  He was also a gifted writer whose work was very thought provoking and emotionally impactful. Though his skills were extraordinary, he always remained humble. 

At the age of 11 Patrick accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized shortly thereafter.  Jesus remained an important part of his life until the very end.

While Patrick could have a shy, quiet side, when he found himself around people he was more comfortable with, he was a fun-loving jokester with an unforgettable laugh.   

Patrick is survived by his father James “Jim” Tewell (Lisa) and his mother Leah Hancock; his siblings Gena Rowell (Tim), Kami Busch (Jason), James Tewell Jr. (Jennifer) and Allen Tewell (Desiree); his amazing nieces and nephews Alex and Kinsey Rowell, Bella and Anna Tewell, Dani and Caden Busch, and Scarlett, Hughston, Austin and Tuffy Tewell; as well as his long-time partner Koda Gallegos.

Celebration of Life services will be February 9^th, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Service located at 904 North 7^th Street, Grand Junction CO 81501.
