Paul Tabor

August 18, 1939 — September 30, 2014

Paul Howard Tabor, age 75 of Grand Junction, CO passed away September 30th, 2014 at his residence. Born August 18th, 1939 in Denver, CO, he was the son of the late Howard A. and Anna L. Cosselman Tabor. As soon as he was old enough, Paul enlisted in the U S Navy. He served as Boatswain's Mate on the USS Kearsarge - a distinction he was very proud of. When ever possible, he would attend the reunions for the USS Kearsage. Paul had worked as an automobile and motorcycle mechanic and was a member of the Blue Dot Car Club. He loved traveling on his motorcycle and he and Vicky covered many miles riding and camping together. One of Paul's greatest ambitions was to ride over every mountain pass in the state of Colorado. He accomplished all but four. He was good at woodworking and built many model ships and he was fascinated with old trains. As a licensed Amateur Ham Radio operator, using the handle" WCOCKC", he has talked with people all over the world. Paul was a man of many talents and interests, but what brought him most joy was being a Patriot Guard Rider. He rode with the group for military funerals, formed welcome lines for returning veterans and escorted those being deployed. He never tired of honoring our troops. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Roberts, his children, Cecil Tabor, Watertown, Michigan, Debbie (Roger) Jackson, Chilton, Texas, Sheri Roberts, and Steven Peterson.  He had 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.   Friends are invited to attend services at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western CO, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please send your donations to the Patriot Guard Riders, 616 Lodgepole St., Grand Junction, CO  81504.
