Richard Ray Montgomery went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 25, 2021 surrounded by his family at the HopeWest Care Center after a battle with cancer.
Born July 4, 1942 to Ray Norman and Audrey Faye (Walls) Montgomery in Landville, WV. He lived in WV before moving to Leadville, CO. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an ASA Specialist during the Vietnam Era and was stationed at U.S. Army Headquarters, Frankfurt, Germany. After serving his country he returned to Leadville and continued his mining career up until retirement in 2001. He loved the mountains of Colorado enjoying skiing, many hunting, fishing and camping trips with his family and friends. His faith was very important to him. He proudly served as a Deacon, Gideon, Jail Minister for many years and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Donna of Clifton, CO, two daughters Renee (Ian) Griggs of Spring Creek, NV, Robin (Matthew) Rose of Grand Junction, CO, step-daughter Shalee Siebbert of ID, step-sons Matthew and Michael Bashara of Grand Junction, CO, eleven grandchildren, brother Randy (Sue) Montgomery of Littleton, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Audrey Montgomery and his first wife, Marilynn Montgomery.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:00pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will be at Palisade Cemetery following. Military Honors will be held on May 3, 2021 at 1:00pm at Palisade Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gideons International, Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund and HopeWest
