Richard Daniel Woods, (known as Dickie Dan in his younger years) age 80 died January 30, 2025, at home surrounded by his wife and two of his daughters, following a long illness.

Born July 24,1944 in Grand Junction, Colorado, he was the son of late parents Everett Carlos and Leona Claire (Hayes) Woods. Richard attended school in Montrose, CO. before moving to Texas for his senior year of high school. He joined the Navy in 1962 and served until 1966, as a parachute rigger, he was stationed in Lakehurst, NJ and Whidby Island, WA. After leaving the service he returned to Colorado where he was a mechanic by trade and worked at several different jobs. Richard held a private pilot license, was an avid gun's man, master hunter safety instructor, as well as the president of the Ten Ring gun club in Nucla, CO.

 He was very theatrical, always making people laugh. He enjoyed spending time with family, motorcycles, making metal art, shooting pool, shooting guns, playing guitar and singing although it was off tune after losing most of his hearing. He was always tinkering with something and could fix anything that was broken. Richard was loved by all who knew him.

 Richard was preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers and two sisters. Richard is survived by his wife Doris (Jonas). Sons, Dwain (Angela) Woods, Derek (Jerri) Woods, Daughters, Jamie (Peter) Finnegan, Lisabeth (David) Smith, with his first wife. Grandchildren, Scott Woods, Malachi and Sadie Smith, Sean and Kevin Finnegan, Grant and Connor Woods, Diane (Austin) DeNio, Kevin (Sara) Maichle. Daughters Tammy Proctor (Frank Menapace) and Nicole Fleming with his second wife, Grandchildren Frankie and Isabel Proctor, Mathias and Mattison Fleming. Great grandchildren, Bethany, Makayla, Jacob, Jethro and Evelyn Finnegan, Reagan, Daphne and Giavonna DeNio, Sean Maichle and Connor Menapace. Numerous nieces and nephews. 

 Memorial services will be held at a later date.

 If wishing to make a donation in Richard's name, please do so to Hope West Hospice Grand Junction.

 Services will be entrusted to Brown's Cremation and Funeral Service
