Robert (Bob) Dean Benesch, age 79, passed away on April 3, 2023. Bob was born on April 22, 1943, in Pueblo, Colorado. Bob spent the first part of his life working on his father’s farm in Avondale, Colorado. He later worked as a route salesman delivering bread and making friends along the way. This career offered him special opportunities to share his gregarious personality with everyone he met. Bob enjoyed sharing his work with his family, building Hostess treat trees for his grandchildren.
Outside of work, Bob spent many hours growing his skills as a handyman, remodeling many of his family homes. He valued hard work and was driven in whatever he pursued. As he grew older, he enjoyed working with wood in his workshop. He was generous with his hobbies and crafted wooden keepsakes for his grandchildren.
Since he was a boy, Bob loved to be outdoors. In his youth, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and golfing. In particular, he loved to garden. As a young man, he received an award for the best sweet corn in the Arkansas Valley. He continued to garden into his retirement, sharing hordes of tomatoes with his family in recent years.
Along with his other joys in life, Bob possessed a love for small toys and was a collector of many automobile and tractor models. He was a lover of John Deere and had many tractor models from the brand.
Bob valued many things in his life. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ as his Savior which offered him comfort throughout his many years. Bob placed high importance on family, spending much of his time developing playful and loving relationships with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family was the light of his life and will greatly miss him.
Robert was proceeded in death by; his parents, Joseph and Gladys Cressey Benesch; his son, Robert Dale; his sisters, Pauline and Lucille; and by his brothers, Bill and Lloyd. He is survived by; his wife, Esther Maden Benesch; his daughter, Beverly (Paul) Jebe; his sons, Ronald (Carri) Benesch, and Rex (Celeste) Benesch; his sisters Leila Clarke, Alice Shaffer, and Norma Glach. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, with 2 on the way.
A memorial service in Bob’s honor with be held on Saturday, April 8, at 11 AM in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 3076 E ½ Road, Grand Junction, Colorado.
