Robert (Bob) Jule Jones, 69, of Delta, Colorado, passed away on August 21 2018. Born July 31, 1949, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, he was the son of Henry and Louise (Lermeny) Jones of Buffalo, South Dakota.
In 1980 he married the love of his life Lorea (Ferguson) Jones. Together they had two children, Amanda and Trevor. He loved watching their activities in high school; Amanda’s cheerleading and Trevor’s football, wrestling, and baseball.
Spending time in the mountains to fish and hunt was something he treasured, especially with son Trevor and his cousin Paul Verhulst. Bob took great joy in his family and each summer camped and fished with the Joneses at the Wickiup Cabins in Cheyenne Crossing, South Dakota where his family had visited for five generations. One of his fondest memories was a six-week trip to Wales he took with his dad in 1974 to visit relatives.
He was always up for a game of pool or to match wits with anyone who would watch Jeopardy with him; and hated when Lorea answered the questions first. A lifelong sports fan, he followed the Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies and he loved to watch golf on Sunday afternoons. He was a member of B.P.O.E 1235 for many years.
Bob graduated from Buffalo High School in 1967 and attended Black Hills State. He was a man of many talents and through his life was employed in various jobs including the Chrysler Corporation in Cherry Valley, Illinois, road construction in Montana, the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado and retail sales for May D & F. He began his career in manufactured home sales and service in 1975 with Elkhorn Mobile Home Service in Grand Junction. Five years later Bob and wife Lorea started B & L Mobile Home Sales and Service. From this business they traveled the world together and met many lifelong friends. He was very proud of all the homes he placed on the Western Slope and continued with this company until his passing.
Bob was preceded in death by the two women who were mothers to him, Louise (Lermeny) Jones and Viola (Giannonatti-Anderson) Jones, his father Henry Jones, and his sister Beth Combs.
He is survived by his loving wife Lorea Jones; daughter Amanda (Aaron) Miller and their daughters Charleston and Marlee of Grand Junction; son Trevor Jones and his sons Treygan and Taysen of Delta; sisters Mona Humphrey of Glendive, Montana, Carla (Pat) Kelly and Jennifer (Steve) Wild, both of Bowman, North Dakota; his brothers Steve (Sherri) Anderson of Mesa, Arizona and John (Anita) Jones of Charlottesville, Virginia; mother-in-law Marjorie Ferguson of Grand Junction; sister-in-law Staci (Rick) Adleman of Grand Junction; and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandpa and papa; he will be missed very much.
Memorial services for Bob will be held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the Delta United Methodist Church at 477 Meeker Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at any Alpine Bank to the “Bob Jones Memorial” account.
