Robert William Morrison Sr. Passed away in his home at age 95 on December 17, 2021. It was the home that he and the love of his life, Alverdia “Birdy” May Hoey, built and raised their three children: Robert William Morrison Junior, (David), Randy Lee Morrison, Terri Morrison (Terri Fletcher).
Robert Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Petronella “Pat” Markunas Morrison Arbogast. Father Arleigh M. Morrison, brother Raymond, sister Rita.
Bob is a third generation Coloradan who was born at home between Clifton and palisade and passed away less than a quarter of a mile from him birthplace. He graduated in 1945 at Clifton High. A workingman, Bob was loved and respected by all. Through his life his focus was to support his family. His jobs include war time service that DRGW Railroad, orchard man, he was a uranium minor (working for his stepfather Howard L “Shorty” Arbogast,) three claims June, July and Jubliee on Outlaw Mesa on the Uncompagre Plateau. He delivered propane in Monticello, Utah, he did geologic surveys by air of Uranium potential sites for mines, tire recapper, fleet service in Grand Junction, and delivering LP gas to the towns of Colburn, Mesa, and Molina, Colorado.
Outside working he was a very involved person in the community. He was a member of Cross Orchards Methodist church, a founding member of Clifton Hall (later Clifton Community Center) with bride. After her death in 1995, he was very involved with Lions club, serving as a president, vice president, and was the recipient of numerous awards including the Melvin Jones Fellow award for humanitarian service.
Bob leaves a legacy of grandchildren, Seth “little man” Morrison and beloved great grandson, Patrick.
He loves hunting, fishing, collecting, Ford tractors, and antique farm equipment. As a lover of the farm life, he rescued calves to raise for beef to feed the family, kids, dogs and stray anything brought much joy to bob. Many years after Bernie’s passing, he met and married neighbor Salamanca “Sally” Quillin in 2013 how are you proceeded bargain death in 2017. He wasn’t a stranger to anyone and though many of his family and friends pass before him, he will be missed by those friends and family left behind. There will be a celebration after the holidays and empty space at the table at Starvin’ Arvin’s, Clifton. His favorite gathering place to hang out with his friends and family.
In Lieu of flowers make donations to HopeWest hospice whose kind support allowed his children and the opportunity for Bob to be at home until the end.
